A method of luminescent UV and VUV spectroscopy was used to study the evolution of color centers in anion-defective alumina single crystals exposed to high doses of gamma-radiation. A sharp drop in the intensity of the emission bands and, therefore, the concentration of F+ and F-centers associated with the formation of aggregate F2-type centers was found. The aggregate centers create an additional emission band in the range of (1.8–2.8) eV. When the crystals are exposed to middle and high doses, the photoluminescence (PL) intensity is the highest in the emission band of F22+-centers, which indicates a high concentration of the aggregates from singly charged oxygen vacancies (of F+-centers). When PL of the crystals exposed to high doses is excited with synchrotron radiation of the VUV range, a wide emission band in the red and near infrared (NIR) regions is registered. The centers related presumably to impurity defects, their aggregates and clusters consisting of several oxygen vacancies are responsible for this emission band.  相似文献

This article reviews efforts to build a new type of quantum device, which combines an ensemble of electronic spins with long coherence times, and a small-scale superconducting quantum processor. The goal is to store over long times arbitrary qubit states in orthogonal collective modes of the spin-ensemble, and to retrieve them on-demand. We first present the protocol devised for such a multi-mode quantum memory. We then describe a series of experimental results using NV (as in nitrogen vacancy) center spins in diamond, which demonstrate its main building blocks: the transfer of arbitrary quantum states from a qubit into the spin ensemble, and the multi-mode retrieval of classical microwave pulses down to the single-photon level with a Hahn-echo like sequence. A reset of the spin memory is implemented in-between two successive sequences using optical repumping of the spins.  相似文献

Effective routing of vehicles remains a focal goal of all modern enterprises, thriving for excellence in project management with minimal investment and operational costs. This paper proposes a metaheuristic methodology for solving a practical variant of the well-known Vehicle Routing Problem, called Heterogeneous Fixed Fleet VRP (HFFVRP). Using a two-phase construction heuristic, called GEneralized ROute Construction Algorithm (GEROCA), the proposed metaheuristic approach enhances its flexibility to easily adopt various operational constraints. Via this approach, two real-life distribution problems faced by a dairy and a construction company were tackled and formulated as HFFVRP. Computational results on the aforementioned case studies show that the proposed metaheuristic approach (a) consistently outperforms previous published metaheuristic approaches we have developed to solve the HFFVRP, and (b) substantially improves upon the current practice of the company. The key result that impressed both companies’ management was the improvement over the bi-objective character of their problems: the minimization of the total distribution cost as well as the minimization of the number of the given heterogeneous number of vehicles used.  相似文献

We study two deterministic scheduling problems that combine batching and deterioration features. In both problems, there is a certain demand for identical good quality items to be produced in batches. In the first problem, each batch is assigned an individual machine that requires a cost and a time to be activated. All the machines are identical, work in parallel, and always produce good quality items. All the items are available at time zero and they deteriorate while waiting for production. Deterioration results in a linear increase of time and cost of production. In the second problem, there is a single machine that produces good quality as well as defective items in batches. Each batch is preceded by a setup time and requires a setup cost. Defective items have to be reworked on the same machine. They deteriorate while waiting for rework. At a time to be decided, the machine switches from production to rework defective items of the current batch. After rework, every defective item has the required good quality. In both problems, the objective is to find batch partitioning such that a linear combination of the production cost and production completion time is minimized. The two problems are observed at computer service providers and also reverse logistics. In computer service providers, machines and items correspond to communication service channels and information transfer tasks, respectively. We reduce both problems to minimizing a function of one variable representing the number of batches. In an optimal solution of either problem, there are at most two different batch sizes. Linear time algorithms are proposed for both problems.  相似文献

The setE of extreme points which are also efficient are of basic importance in defining the efficiency frontier, from which the observations for all other DMUs are evaluated in DEA. A significant question which we address is “What variations in the data can be tolerated before the membership inE is changed?” This topic is explored using (1) a simple illustrative example, and (2) production data for 30 independent oil companies during the period 1983–1985. Data were allowed to vary simultaneously for all observations and in different subsets determined by random drawings of data for points both inE and not inE. The results were found to be robust in this study, thereby lending further support to earlier studies which also found these classifications into efficient and inefficient performers to be robust in DEA. Technical developments for these new methods of sensitivity analysis are supplied. These developments feature an application of analytic center (interior point) algorithms which ensure that the Strong Complementary Slackness Condition (SCSC) is fulfilled. The solutions satisfy a mathematical condition called “centrality”. Generally, the solutions are at interior points calledanalytic centers. At these interior points, continuity of the input-output ratios ensures that DMUs inE remain inE for at least small relative variations in the data, while empirically these properties have been found to extend to much larger variations in the data sets.  相似文献

Thiolates are presently a subject of great interest in the chemistry of complexes involving transition-metal elements and soft ligands. The manifold electronic and steric capabilities offered by the monodentate ligands RS? and the bidentate chelate ligands ?SRS? have been used to stabilize a broad spectrum of mononuclear, oligomeric, and polymeric complexes with new and remarkable structures and properties. Impetus has especially been provided by the synthesis of polynuclear cagelike homo- and heteroleptic metal–sulfur frameworks, which can often be regarded as “molecular fragments” of the structures of inorganic sulfides. Thiolates and mixed sulfide-thiolates of the late open- and closed-shell 3d metals (Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn) and some of their homologues (Au, Cd, Hg), as well as of Mo, are of particular importance as model complexes for biologically important metal centers coordinated by sulfur. They have played an important role in increasing our understanding of the structure, bonding, and function of the reactive centers in ferredoxins, rubredoxins, nitrogenases, blue copper proteins, metallothioneins, and antiarthritic drugs.  相似文献
